How Does Happiness Effect Your Health?
Do not think that you need to go around each day completely happy all the time in order to stay healthy. Experiencing a wide range of emotions is not only normal it is actually healthy in and of itself. Yet, to experience an inordinate amount of unhappiness or stress on a constant basis can actually have some negative consequences on your over all well being.
Negative Thoughts Cannot hurt you
The amount of worrying or negative thinking alone that you do may not necessarily cause you to become ill. It can, however, be that the negative thinking or worrying lead you to make more unhealthy choices than you otherwise would. For example, if you feel overwhelmed or stressed you may decide to lie in bed instead of get up and exercise by playing with your children or taking a walk around the block. A few times here and there should not make an impact on you, but if it became habitual it could at the very least lead to experiencing more aches and pains if not some weight gain which would affect your life insurance rate.
A constant sense of stress can make you feel more tired than usual, too. You may find it hard to concentrate during the day and so you ask your doctor to prescribe you something to help you sleep. If that medication makes getting up in the morning difficult, it can lead you to drink that extra cup or two of coffee. There is probably nothing wrong with having an extra cup of coffee here and there.
But, if you feel anxious, upset, on top of feeling tired the coffee could wind up being your breakfast for the day. Because your anxiety can impact your appetite, you may not feel much like eating. This can become a bad habit which quickly can lead to improper eating habits, and this can definitely wind up harming you over time.
This is because when these behaviors are repeated time and again, they can add up to having significant effects on all aspects of your physical health. You could wind up with ulcers or other stomach issues. Choosing junk food over nutritious food can also lead to weight gain and can quickly put you in the category of those with hypertension or even diabetes. Even if they do not bring this on for you, all of these poor habits due to stress added up together can lead to increased trips to the doctor and that can mean time out of work.
Obviously, then, unhappiness can have unhealthy results. Feeling sad or unmotivated can keep you from focusing at work, too. If it is bad enough, it can lead to serious problems on the job which can impact the quality of work you do. Imagine losing your job because of one unpleasant thing leading to another? It could happen, and then you have a compounded problem one that probably leads to even more problems. Maybe your negative thoughts cannot do all this by themselves, but the behavior and choices that come after the negative thoughts can definitely impact you and your health.
Make Good Choices
Fortunately, by making good choices, sometimes very small and simple ones throughout your day, you can minimize the impact worry or stress can have on your health. Besides simple things like eating well, getting enough sleep and exercising, keeping a relatively positive or happy outlook can help support a healthier you which is better for term life insurance. In this way, happiness just like unhappiness can effect your health only happiness can effect your health in a good way.
